The Burning Beast Reviews
Amazing, Scary, Joyous and Heartbreaking throughout!
“The Burning Beast” describes something that most people hope they never have to experience in life, that feeling when you’re on the brink of losing almost everything, even your life! Kim Talbert does an amazing job of weaving the events leading up to and during some of the worse wildfires to ever hit the state of Texas.
It was quite creative the way she used social networking as a basis for her book, this is the first time I’ve read a book that was based almost entirely on posts that occurred through social networking; I’m sure we’ll see more authors using this format as a result of Kim’s work.
Buy the book, you will not be sorry you did. Also, the proceeds go to a GREAT cause. . . Volunteer Fire Departments!

Made a Grown Man’s Eyes Water
Well written and incredibly moving. By using Facebook to tell the story, the author gives you the feeling you are experiencing this incredible adventure right along with her. The book is easy to read and captures your attention so completely, I put everything else on hold and read it in one sitting. The ending has unexpected twists that make the story worthwhile. Thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish.

Powerful and Emotional
This book is about the destructive fire at Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas. You can feel the emotion of the situation and how scary a big fire is when it is heading toward you. The author is very descriptive and you feel like you are there, experiencing everything that she did. I loved the way that it was written, describing an event hour by hour with Facebook messages along with other detail. I would recommend this book to anyone. Well done Ms. Kim Talbert!

Heart Wrenching
We lived through this fire and lost our home. While I read this book I felt like I was reliving those horrible days and remembered using Facebook and emails so much to find information for myself. Kim Talbert has done a great job in telling this story in such a unique way.

A Powerful Story of Faith and Circumstance
I can’t recommend this book enough! The story grabs you and doesn’t let you go. You can almost smell the smoke from the fires. It is a heart-wrenching account by the author of a true experience of fear, patience, and faith. The real-time story, as it is told, makes the reader feel every bit as anxious as the author. . . The power of social media is a great addition to the telling of this story. . .
